Mollie Embree, Henrietta’s second daughter, died in infancy. Her death and Henrietta’s subsequent mourning are the focus of much of Henrietta’s writing. The loss of her infant daughter raised many questions for her mother who used her diary to contemplate the meaning of her experiences.
