Other African-American Lives

The slave schedules of 1850 and 1860 counted the number of slaves owned by the Embree family and many of the individuals named in the diaries. Only tidbits of information can be gleaned from these records; however, they do reveal the number of unnamed individuals who resided with the Embree family and other slaves of the related families in Bell County, Red River County, and Cumberland County, Kentucky. The ages are not necessarily accurate nor are the categories of racial identification. I include here the information contained in the slave schedules for 1850 and 1860.
