I am Erma Sanford Leggett’s great-granddaughter, Penny Leggett Chandler, of Wichita Falls, Texas. I was so excited to hear about this event in Belton tomorrow. I do plan to be there. I went through many very old pictures and even found some of “Grandmother Tennie” Embree. I also came upon a picture of an African-American girl. When I asked my mother about her, she wasn’t sure who she was, but I am wondering if she is either Aggie or her daughter. Anyway, I am bringing pictures that I have with me. I can’t wait to see and hear about the book. I can assure you that Grandmother Tennie’s strength and independence lives in the lives of her female ancestors. Thank you for writing the book. I will see you tomorrow at the museum.
